Fertility is actually a growing issue. It seems more and more couples are finding it difficult to conceive. Whether its our overall health or just that we are leaving parenting to later there is no doubt that the fertility clinics around the world seem more or less at capacity. Are advances in medicine really making a big difference? I know we like to think that we have all the answers when it comes to medicine and yet modern fertility treatment is still a pretty low percentage game. That is why acupuncture and Chinese medicine can be so helpful. If we can ad a few extra percent then I think the work is well worth doing. Good luck to all those on the fertility journey. I look forward to helping.

There are several comments about fertility being less of an issue in this modern era because of advances in drug regimes, and health.
Firstly, health is an issue in most ‘western’ societies for example – obesity booming and high stress levels in most aspects of society. Health is a very real issue. I do think that acupuncture and education has a very keen role to play in this. Specifically, there have been numerous studies that show acupuncture has a real effect on stress indicators eg. during IVF, general stress levels and hence assisting the chances of conception. The benefits vary from 10-30%. This cannot be overlooked.
Yes, medication has improved over the last twenty years, I do think that medication has a vital role to play as well, but certainly not at the expense of an acupuncture intervention. After all is it not important to maximize ones chances if there are difficulties? In this treatment I see there being a mutual benefit and a true complementary existance.

Not only acupuncture can alleviate muscle and joint pains, it can also increase fertility, relieve stress, and improve the symptoms of certain serious illness. Great post you have here.

Im not sure where this comes from, but to suggest that fertility is not a bog problem denies the fact that IVF clinics across the world are flat out keeping up with demand despite the cost. Modern medicine has certainly made pregnancy possible where it was not in the past, but there is still so much to know and implement before we can say that fertility is no longer a problem.
Thanks for your comments.

Thanks for your comments. You are right in that there is a large body of evidence building for acupuncture in the scientific community and it is starting to filter through to people accessing health care. It is important to keep a balanced view of health, its maintenance and treatment and that includes accessing the right treatment at the right time.
Kind regards,
Alex.
